Options for every budget. Please note that registration is not finalized and a student's spot in class is not reserved until the first month, semester, or annual tuition has been paid in full. It is required that every student have a card on file.

Tuition is due on the first of each month. It is comprised of a lump sum that is divided into 9 payments September-May

INFO REGARDING COVID-19

We are carefully and conscienciously developing a COVID-19 plan/procedure for our fall season as we receive enrollments. These plans and procedures are subject to change as is our daily class schedule depending on enrollment and class sizes. All of our classes have a limited capacity at this time.

PARKING AND ARRIVAL

Parents/guardians of students in a Creative Movement class may accompany their student (masked) into the lobby. To align with building capacity restrictions, we ask that parents/guardians of students in any other class drop off/pickup only at our front door and not come into the lobby.

WHEN YOU GET TO MDC

  • Facial coverings are requried at all times by everyone in the building. Teachers will be consciencious about exertion of the students and also allow ample "breathing breaks" outside of the classroom.

  • Dancers should come with their hair fully done, full dance attire already on (excluding dance shoes), wearing outerwear on top. Our dressing rooms will be closed until further notice.

  • The front door of the studio will remain locked until 10 minutes before the start of classes. Please do not arrive too early for drop off - when your dancer enters the building, they will go straight to and remain on their distancing dot in the lobby.

  • An MDC staff member will open the door at the appropriate time and will ask you a few standardized questions referring to the COVID-19 prevention guidelines (have you or anyone you have been in contact with had any COVID-19 sytmpoms in the last 14 days? Have you been out of state in the last 14 days?). THIS WILL HAPPEN EVERY DAY. If a student has travelled outside of Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, or Vermont, they will need to quarantine for 14 days as mandated by the Maine government.

  • An MDC staff member will take the temperature of every student as they enter and every student is to clean their hands upon arrival and entry into the classroom.

INSIDE MDC

  • Please minimize what you bring in. Dance shoes and water bottles are all that a student needs.

  • Once you enter the studio, you will remove your shoes and place them on the dancer's designated distancing dot. You will leave your belongings on your dot, only carrying with you what you need into the studio to your own designated dance space. MDC has sectioned spaces in accordance with Maine State CDC and National Dance Organizations guidelines.

  • For bathroom usage, dancers in studio 1 (the studio closest to the entrance) will use the first bathroom. Dancers in studio 2 will use the second bathroom. Dancers in studio 3 have their own bathroom in the back space.

  • For students taking multiple styles of dance (or any student, really), we recommend they have a locker to hold their belongings and minimize what is taken in with them into the classroom.

  • Please refrain from bringing school bags into the studio/lobby. 

  • If a student has a break in between classes longer than 15 minutes, we ask that a parent/guardian wait with them in their vehicle, or they leave the studio and return 10 minutes before their next class.

  • No spillable drinks should be brought into the studio (only bottled beverages with a sealable cap) as they will not be able to be brought into the studio nor be left unattended on the floor of the lobby.

GENERAL SAFETY PRACTICES

  • Do not come to class if you, or anyone you are living with, has/has been sick within the last 14 days

  • Do not come to class if you, or anyone you are living with, are/is exhibiting any of the following symptoms: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficult breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomitting, diarrhea.

  • Do not come to class if you have been out of state in the past 14 days unless you have gotten a COVID-19 test and medical approval. Certain exceptions apply, so please keep a close eye on Maine CDC's website and our updates.

  • Physcial distancing should be practiced at all times in and around Maine Dance Center.

  • Studios have clearly taped on the floor boxes and class sizes are limited.

  • The lobby and dressing rooms are closed until further notice.

  • Our class schedule is subject to change to allow for distancing through class turnover and cleaning/sanitizing depending on enrollment.

ALL OF THESE POLICIES/PROCEDURES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND WILL BE UPDATED AS NECESSARY AS THE SCHOOL YEAR APPROACHES.

INFO & PAYMENT OPTIONS

Tuition is based on a full school year from September to May. Some months (especially those with school vacations) may only have two or three classes while others may have five in a month's time. Tuition is based on the total number of classes from September to May, so the no-interest monthly installment amount remains the same.

 

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, cash or check. A $25 fee is charged for returned checks. Student accounts must be paid in full in order to register for new sessions (including new school years, and all summer workshops).

 

You have the option to make monthly payments over a 9-month period, make payments per semester, or pay for the full year.

 

If you wish, you can enter a credit for recurring tuition payments, or you may choose for all charges to be applied to the account. If you want to pay by check or cash, please do so at our front desk during operating hours. Students will not be able to attend class until his/her account is brought up to date.

REGISTRATION FEE

There is a yearly registration fee of $20 a student and $30 a family.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellations in the event of weather will be posted on our Facebook page and website by 2:00pm. Cancellations will also be found on WGME and WCSH. If schools are cancelled and the weather clears, classes may be held, so please check in. If more than two classes in a year is cancelled due to weather, a make-up class will be available to students. They may take any class in the same style, format, and level as the missed class.

DROP-INS

At this time due to COVID-19 regulations/precautions and contact tracing, we cannot offer drop-ins for any of our classes.

ONLINE CLASSES

In the event that we need to close MDC for a polonged amount of time, classes will be held online. Tuition is still due for online classes.

ADD/DROP

We accept registrations for classes with availability through February 1st. Recital classes are structured around student numbers and abilities and teachers spend a great deal of time preparing recitals around their students. It can be disruptive to the choreography to lose a student late in the year. Dropping a recital class after February 1st will incurr a $25 Add/Drop fee.
